Are You Ready For Storm Season?

If you live in Tornado Alley as I do, then you know that every Spring and Summer we watch the skies during storm season. A late afternoon storm can pop up very quickly so we have to be ready and plan in place if the weather gets bad.

If we know a storm is coming we usually turn on the local weather station, track it on our phone, or step outside to watch the skies. We’re on constant alert until the storm has passed.

Most of us do this, don’t we?

As scary as storms can be sometimes, there’s something far more serious than the weather that we need to be on the watch for.

Look at what 1Peter 5:8 says:

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

This verse has always terrified/unnerved me to some extent because I understand how serious this warning is.

If you can visualize a large, ferocious lion constantly searching for his next meal, going back and forth trying not to miss any opportunity. It’s almost like a scene from a movie where people are rushing to hide from someone or something that is trying to kill them. Their life depends on getting to safety as soon as they can.

The bible says “Be alert and sober-minded”. This means “watch out!”, “be careful!”, “stay on watch with a clear mind”.

Without the proper protection, the devil will devour you. You’re easy prey for him. You certainly aren’t a match for him by yourself.

Oh, but God.

Now look at what 2 Chronicles 16:9 says:
“For the eyes of the Lord go throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. “

God is also searching the earth to help those who need strength in Him!

Isn’t that good news?

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Joshua 1:9

In God, we have that safe place, a storm shelter, that we can use to hide from the evil one and all the storms in our life.

He is our refuge and our strength.

Be sure and thank God for all He’s doing for you and your family, and go out of your way to be nice to someone today.❤
